Praha

by neilduffen @ 2007-11-25 - 00:32:58

So I spent my 38th Birthday in Prague.

G had been here many times as his brother and family lives in the city.

We spent the days wandering around the small city streets, down Wenceslas Sq, through Old Town Square and across the Charles bridge and up to Prague Castle and Golden Lane.

In the evenings we had some fabulous meals.

The first at G's brother's house with all his family.

The second was in a restaurant called Kampapark, that was on the river and afforded us a great view of the river and the Charles Bridge.

The last was at an Argentinian Steak house, again with G's brother and family.

All the food was superb.

During the meal at Kampapark, G asked me to marry him.

I, of course said yes.

And it added a little symmetry to our lives as I asked the same thing of him, on my bithday last year in Rome.

Best Man

There are several quintessential moments in a man's life.

Kirby Kaeger ain't wrong about that.

So I find myself sitting outside a pub at Liverpool St. It's a cold crisp Tuesday evening, about 6pm and as dark as midnight.

Martin, sits opposite, taking a drag on his cigarrette.

''So your definately comeing over for the wedding?'' he asks.

''Of course'' I reply.

Hell, I wouldn't miss it for the world.

Mart in will be marrying Daniella next year in Serbia, where she is from.

Martin and I have been friends for over ten years.

We grew up in the company together, heck, we've thrown up in the company together.

Our reputations of being two of the hardest drinkers has always preceeded us, and with god reason.

''Well....how about being my best man ?'' he says.

''Fuck yeah'' I reply.

Not the most eloquent of responses, but it is received in spirit in which it is offered.

Best man.

I am already shitting myself about the speech.
